When I saw this photo, I had a very clear feeling. Do you remember those movies where a town seemed so cared for, but there was not a soul at sight ?
Well, I perceive that in your work. As if the people who lived here hid in a rush, running away in great fear. No wind, no sounds, no animals ... something is about to happen or happened already. I am almost expecting hords of warriors to appear all of a sudden in the distance, ahead, at the middle of the photo, ready to destroy all they find ... or that a lonely walker arrives to find out that all inhabitants were killed in their homes a day or two ago.
But I dont get bad, evil or negative vibes from your photo. I actually like it very much. So it's like imagining a fantasy that I know is not real and will not happen.
The landscape is actually stunning. The hills cut the pale green and the red tiled ceiling of the house to the right give a spark of color and life to the "still" scenary .
I guess that the main reason why I am getting this overall impression is the presence of the menacing clouds that extend all along the sky, from east to west and north to south. These amazing black clouds provide a very special ambience of suspense and/or suspended time.
The the land divisions and the wall to the right (built of stones) add to the beauty of this place which is possibly a very, very old treasure of Portugal's past.
I enjoyed this work. I love art that moves me, makes me dream and write until I get my feelings out.
I understand your feelings and it's nice to know the emotions that this captures opens in you. I've tried this composition before, but the weather was not what I wanted. This time the capture came out quite well. Something that I would add to this photos is a few sheeps or goats in the fields... Maybe one day... I appreciate your comment. Thanks.
